Bathroom Scales
The search for bathroom scales has been largely unconfirmed. Two observations I made during my research are as follows.
Bathroom Scale (Caution, the Taylor Precision scale is being advertised as “Made in USA” however the item is marked “Made in China”)
The Detecto brand a branch of Cardinal Scale Manufacturing states “most of the Detecto brand is made in the USA”.

I couldn’t find a scale manufactured in the USA. Detecto operator said theirs were made in China as well.

I have been looking and looking and also have not found an American scale. I want one badly and refuse to continue to buy ‘made in china’ products.
Anyone have better results?

SR Instruments & American Weigh both make scales in the U.S. You will have to be willing to pay about $400.

The Taylor site calls themselves Taylor USA. They should call themselves Import junk are us. I just searched Walmart and Meijer and all the Taylor scales said MADE IN CHINA.

Sorry Sheri, you’re incorrect: American Weigh’s scales are Made in China. Watch their Youtube product demo and you can see the Made in China tag. I’m with Wayne, I’ll just do without before I buy a Made in China product.

You can buy some retro scales on Etsy. That’s where I buy most of my stuff. They’re not new, but it’s better than buying Chinese products.

I purchased a Taylor bathroom scale at a local hardware store. I read the box about their 150 year history & their moto; Accuracy First. When I read ‘Made in China’ all I could think of is their 150 years of making thier fortune off Americans then taking all the jobs & associated businesses to CHINA! The scale is still in the trunk of my car awaiting delivery back to the hardware store. They wern’t Accurate about American public opinion.

I found a bathroom scales on overstock.com that said it was “Made in the USA”. When I received it, the box said “Made in China”. I was so upset it didn’t even look at the scales, but filled out an online return request and shipped it back off. A perfect example of false advertising. Like the other comments here, I think companies should think twice about selling out our workers and being greedy corporatists!!

2nd comment: The scales I bought at Target, Talor, was a piece of junk and didn’t last 3 months. The one I ordered on overstock.com was made by Escali which advertised American made, but wasn’t!

I too am looking for a bathroom scale and have been disappointed with the Made in China scales. Two of them – and both are inaccurate and had to be returned. It seems to be impossible to find a bathroom scale not made in China here in Canada. The same goes for many other products. One thing I like to comment on and that is the reason manufacturing is mostly done now in China for all sorts of products. Because of it we are very upset about all the lost jobs especially in he USA. What we have to consider though is the reason why this has happened. It is because “we” the consumers want to buy the least expensive products if possible and we will go to the businesses that will give it to us. And so in order to be “competitive” companies have found the answer and have their products made cheaply in China. We shouldn’t simply blame the manufacturers and businesses – they are giving us what we want – low prices. They have to give the customer what they want in order to make a sale and stay in business and keep jobs. And now we can all see the results. Maybe we have forgotten that “low prices – cheap” usually implies – Low Quality.
